,
as an operating system is based on the smart card platform. This
is a widely accepted platform throughout much of Europe and is
gaining momentum in the US. The majority of smart cards come in
two varieties, memory and microprocessor cards. The memory card,
though less expensive, is very susceptible to card tear (corruption
in the data on the card). Because of the enhanced performance
and superior reliability of the microprocessor card and their
ability to withstand the harshest of working environments, it
has been our card of choice at
.
Our microprocessor-based smart cards also offer you the highest
level of security. Unlike magnetic stripe cards they can not be
duplicated or copied. Each card is individually numbered and can
be deleted out of the system at any time. This ensures that if
your customer looses their card, and have written down their card
#, that you can, at your discretion, void that card # and issue
them a new one. In addition, each card, in itself, will hold the
last 40+ transactions along with the time and date of each transaction
and the machine where the transaction took place. These transactions
can be looked at in the PC program should a customer have any
questions about their card balance. The PC program also stores
all data as related to the card. Those transactions will be as
current as your last 'Smart Card Terminal" collection and
PC download. In the unlikely event that one of our microprocessor
cards fail, there is a section in the PC program that will repair
the majority of card faults. It is as simple as pushing in the
bad card and selecting the repair option.
